ABSTRACT: Exploring the role of early childhood education in promoting global citizenship is crucial in an increasingly interconnected world. This study aimed to investigate how early childhood education fosters a sense of global citizenship among young children. The objectives were to (1) evaluate children's understanding of global interdependence, (2) assess the development of empathy and cultural sensitivity, and (3) examine the role of curriculum and pedagogy in promoting global citizenship. A survey design was employed to collect detailed data from participants. A sample size of 150 children aged 4-6 years was selected using purposive sampling, ensuring diverse representation from various socio-economic backgrounds. The study focused on an early childhood education center in Lagos State known for its inclusive and globally-oriented curriculum. Findings indicated significant improvement in children's understanding of global interdependence, enhanced empathy, and cultural sensitivity, and the crucial role of curriculum and pedagogical approaches in fostering these traits. Recommendations included integrating global citizenship themes into early childhood education curricula and providing teacher training to support this integration effectively.
